Alish has joined us from Tehran. The purpose of sending her photo she writes in her email that she just wants to wish Happy Eid Day to all Muslims. She tells a little about eid moon sighting time that the Shawal moon announces the arrival of Eid-ul-Fitar. It is the end of Ramazan, the holy month of fasting. The next morning, the Muslims assemble in a great thanks-giving congregation. They thank the merciful Allah for giving them the opportunity and strength to observe the sacred fasts. They ask Him to forgive them for their weaknesses and sins. They reaffirm their vow of faithfulness to Allah.
Alish more tells that the evening when the moon is expected to appear is a memorable evening. As the sun goes down, the faithful break their fast and offer the Nimaz-e-Maghrib. They rush to the roofs of their houses and join the search for the Shawal moon. They turn their eyes towards the western horizon. On every housetop there are scores of people, all scanning the sky with keen, expectant eyes. After the Shawal moon is sighted, people raise their hands in prayers. Children are particularly fond and excited about seeing the Eid Moon. As they sight it, their faces usually light up with joy. Dinner is eaten in a joyous mood and plans for the next days are made. What would everyone wear and what will be the menu for the food. Many people hit the roads to go to their loved ones if they live in another city.

Zahra and Hormat are two well-settled Iranian girls doing their post graduation from the University of Toronto. Hormat (in golden shawl) tells that our friendship was started six months ago when Zahra came from Iran for higher studies. It is my last year of post graduation. She tells about her university that The University of Toronto is Canada’s largest university and offers a very broad range of courses in the humanities and social and physical sciences, as well as professional programs in medicine, engineering, architecture, dentistry, social work and teaching. The University of Toronto conducts many research programs and boasts a world-class medical facility. The university is known for break-through research achievements such as the development of the first electronic heart pacemaker and the development of the chemical laser, and for having 6 Nobel Prize-winning graduates.

Farya Iman belongs to Tehran. Farya is student of 2rd year. She tells that her relatives are not only in Iran but also in out side the Iran. Farya likes to attend parties and functions invited from her relatives. According to Farya point of view we Iranian are aware of families who lived in big cities and they always had a group of people visiting them from other places. Now that migration is a factor here, our Iranian families, not only visit cities in Iran, they also use their resources to check on relatives who reside outside of Iran. This is a good plan; they visit their loved ones, which is a very positive activity.
